Scott Squires biography is a successful story. A renowned name for being an outstanding voice in the special effects industry.Scott started to experience with animation as a kid using a Super 8 y and 16mm camera, and created a micro photography system later at the university, which called Douglas Trumbulls attention, the visionary film maker and magician of special effects. Scotts career in Visual Effects started when Douglas hired him to help him design the photographic effect for an unknown movie at that time: Close Encounters of the Third Kind.As an experienced photographer and photography director, Squires developed a good sense for scene taking. His experience on animation completes these abilities with crucial decisions of time. He was self-taught in programming and electronics.He was co-founder and president of Dream Quest (bought by Walt Disney Studios later). Later, he was hired by George Lucas Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), where he had four Award Academy nominations for his work in The Mask, Dragonheart and Star Wars: the phantom menace. Scott also was awarded with the Scientific and Engineering Oscar for his leading work in the Movies Scan Area.Squires has been an ambitious creator who has developed tools and processes to work. He created Commotion, a special effects software package to make rotoscoping, animation and composition.While working for ILM, Scott also directed TV spots for clients such as Hewlett Packard, Intel and British Petroleum. The commercial Elevator for BP, where Scott was in charge of the effects, won the Monitor and Mobius awards. And moreover, he designed Fantastic 4: The Rise of the Silver Surfer and contributed with Hereafer and Transformers: the dark side of the moon, as a 3D expert.This well-known director confesses he likes everything that implies directing, from taking a basic idea to complete a project. “Working as a director allows me to interact with many talented people in all the aspects of production. The adventure of creating a team is as gratifying as the final result.”Among his film tastes, he says it is impossible to choose only director as a favorite. “This year, Alfonso Cuaron, Spike Jonze and Steve McQueen were, among others, who made an exemplary work,” he added.
